Tigre is roughly 30 kilometers from central Buenos Aires, close enough for a day trip and different enough to feel like another landscape. The city, river station, Puerto de Frutos and Paraná Delta can be combined with a Buenos Aires overview, but the full plan deserves a full day rather than a compressed afternoon.
DePasseios' current combined product is a nine-hour experience. That is a more realistic baseline than promising a complete Buenos Aires tour, lunch, a long navigation and Tigre in eight rushed hours.
What makes Tigre different?
The Paraná Delta begins where rivers divide into islands, channels and wetlands. Boats serve as transport for residents, deliveries and visitors. On land, Tigre adds museums, rowing-club architecture and the Puerto de Frutos market, whose name recalls the produce once unloaded there from the islands.
A realistic full-day sequence
- Morning: a focused Buenos Aires route with short stops in selected neighborhoods
- Midday: transfer toward Tigre or San Isidro, with lunch planned around the confirmed navigation time
- Afternoon: a scheduled Delta navigation and time in Tigre
- Late afternoon: Puerto de Frutos or another land stop, depending on opening times and traffic
- Return: allow flexibility for road and river conditions
Shared navigation or private boat?
A shared navigation is easy to schedule and offers a broad introduction to the Delta. A private boat can provide more flexibility, but route, duration, weather policy and what is included should be confirmed in writing. The current DePasseios city-and-Tigre product uses private ground transportation with a shared one-hour navigation.
Puerto de Frutos and Tigre on land
Puerto de Frutos is now an open-air market for furniture, home goods, crafts and regional products. It is worth visiting for context as well as shopping. If museums are a priority, check their opening days before deciding how much time to reserve for the market.
What happens if the weather changes?
Light rain can make the Delta atmospheric, but strong wind or storms can affect navigation. Confirm the operator's weather policy and keep a land-based alternative: more time in Buenos Aires, San Isidro, the market or a museum, depending on what is open.
DePasseios' current combined tour lasts nine hours and includes a bilingual guide, private ground transportation and a shared Delta navigation.
